If you do one thing today, let it be an exploratory trip to your local Poundshop. I've become something of an addict recently and can't seem to walk past my local without a quick root around the beauty aisle. I'm mindful that these products are generally discontinued and likely to be nearer their best buy date than their full priced counterparts, so I'm careful with what I pick (I would never pick up a mascara, for example).

Clearly it was a case of mani-on-the-mind during this particular outing as I retreated home with a bag stuffed with polishes and topcoats. My pick of the bunch? Ten vials of caviar top coat (£1 for the set) which would set you back around £16 from the likes of Ciate. I also grabbed three Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes (around £7 each in Boots) which I've been trialling this week, and have found myself head over heels for the gritty, matte texture.

There was a heavy Revlon presence in-store, and I was sorely tempted to throw a ton of polishes in my basket but instead edited my picks down to this double-ended pen. I was actually a little disappointed with this when I got it home as I had hoped for little nib applicators to attempt some nail art, whilst it actually just features very thin brushes. You win some!

My lone makeup pick of the day was this little CK by Calvin Klein cream eyeshadow pot in a deep rust. I'm a sucker for a lazy swipe and go smokey eye look and this little baby ticks the box perfectly (plus the colour suits my skin tone and hair). Now this brand is seemingly one of the beauty industries lost causes and so you can pick these up from the likes of Fragrance Direct for £1.99 (as opposed to their £15 RRP) - nevertheless it was a welcome addition to my basket.

Have you ever picked up any Poundshop bargains?
