I'm starting a proper new job in September so lately my shoe hoarding shopping has taken on a distinctly 'smart casual' vibe..

I love a loafer. There's a bit more to 'em than a ballet pump and they meet a smart-casual work brief without the need for stacked heels - I just can't get on with wobbling through my day on stilettos. Nuh-uh. Go for leather if you're after something a bit more classic that will wear and last well, or if you fancy something a bit more trend-led the likes of New Look are bursting with cheaper alternatives. I've rounded up a few of my favourites and have picks from both camps..

(Top to bottom, left to right)

Classic black leather loafers from Clarks with a chunky cleated sole that brings a bit of a twist.

Oxblood leather loafers from New Look with old-man tassel's that I'm ALWAYS onboard with.

Monochrome leather loafers from Clarks with androgynous fringe detailing.

Black leather Celine dupes from Mango with an extreme point - PLUS they're half price in the sale. Literally spent all day hunting down a pair in my size. Move fast.

Silver pointed loafers from New Look. Total disco shoes but pair 'em with low key black jeans, a T and casual blazer and you're good to go.
